SIMPLIFIED TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT FOR FORWARDING GOODS BY RICHARD JAMES INTERNATIONAL LTD.


Goods and packages will be accepted for forwarding as part of Richard James International Ltd container and freight forwarding service for islands in the South Atlantic Ocean on the following terms (full terms of contract are available on request): -
  1. Any estimate given for forwarding goods is based on the details supplied by the client and the actual charge will be based on the measurement of the goods when received and accepted by Richard James International Ltd for shipment.
  2. All goods are accepted on the understanding that Richard James International Ltd is only liable for the freight charges and not for insuring the goods.
  3. All goods received by Richard James International Ltd may be inspected at the company's discretion. The Client will indemnify Richard James International Ltd against any claims relating to the contents of the goods shipped.
  4. The Client is to provide a detailed packing list of the goods as well as details of Consignee of the goods, failure to do so may cause the goods to be rejected or shipment being delayed.
  5. Richard James International Ltd reserves the right to refuse to forward goods if there is any doubt about their content.
  6. Richard James International Ltd reserves the right to repack any goods that are received in an unsuitable condition for freight forwarding. All associated charges will be charged to the Client.
  7. All goods forwarded are on the basis of freight only costs to destination with all arrival duties and fees unpaid. The Consignee is responsible for customs clearance and any associated fees due at the destination.
  8. All freight charges to be paid on presentation of the invoice (which will normally be prior to dispatch), until the freight charges have been paid Richard James International Ltd reserves the right to withhold the release of the goods and to charge the Client/Consignee any storage or other reasonable charges.
  9. Richard James International Ltd will use its best endeavours to deliver the goods by the speediest means available but cannot be held responsible for delays caused by factors outside its control.

  10. NORMALLY NO PACKAGE WILL BE ACCEPTED IF IT WEIGHS MORE THAN 25 KILOGRAMS, PACKAGES UPTO 40 KILOGRAMS ARE ACCEPTABLE IF CLEARLY MARKED "HEAVY - 2 MAN LIFT". ALL HEAVIER CONSIGNMENTS MUST BE PALLETISED. ITEMS HEAVIER AND BULKIER THAN 40 KGS WILL BE ONLY BE ACCEPTED BY PRIOR ARRANGEMENT.

    ALL CONSIGNMENTS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A COMMERCIAL INVOICE (EXCEPT FOR PERSONAL EFFECTS WHICH MUST HAVE A FULL PACKING LIST AND VALUATION).

    Note these conditions do not replace the full trading Conditions of Contract of Richard James International Ltd but are a simplification and indicate the main points. Rates are subject to regular review. E & OE.
