St Helena Airfreight
There is still a significant delay with airfreight in Joburg and only a few of our boxes are getting through on each flight. Commercial cargo is constantly being bumped for priority cargo which includes SHG cargo, medical, fresh produce and passengers.
At this stage we do not predict that the backlog of RJI cargo in Joburg will be cleared until the weekly flights begin in October. There has not been a viable airfreight service so far this year and some customers are only just receiving cargo that should have arrived in June.
We have tried to send some of the backlog cargo to Cape Town but costs and logistics mean that this is not a viable option for the remaining boxes.
Please note that all airfreight that we currently have here is being sent by seafreight on V58 (ETA 09/11/22) as this will arrive before the backlog in Joburg is cleared.
We apologise for the almost non existent airfreight service so far this year. While this has been out of our control, it is still extremely frustrating for us as we have been unable to provide a reliable airfreight service to the island. We hope to see significant improvements once the weekly flights start.
We would like to thank all of our customers for your understanding and continued patience during this difficult time.
